Why This Test is Important

Vaginitis is a common condition, but differentiating between its causes—like bacterial vaginosis (BV) and Candida vaginitis (CV, also known as vulvovaginal candidiasis)—is vital for delivering prompt and effective patient care.

By utilizing PCR-based molecular diagnostics, the cobas® BV/CV assay offers high sensitivity and specificity compared to traditional methods.

The cobas® BV/CV assay allows you to run an entire sexual health panel (BV/CV, CT/NG, TV/MG) from a single patient sample in the very same run. By streamlining your workflow onto a unified platform, this integration eliminates the need for multiple instruments, reduces hands-on time, and maximizes laboratory efficiency.

Product Overview: Provides an automated, qualitative in vitro diagnostic result based on the direct detection of the associated markers of Bacterial Vaginosis and/or the detection of Candida species.

• Bacterial Vaginosis Targets: Gardnerella vaginalis, Lactobacillus crispatus, Lactobacillus gasseri, Lactobacillus jensenii, and Atopobium vaginae.

• Candida Vaginitis Targets: C. albicans, C. dubliniensis, C. glabrata, C. krusei, C. tropicalis, and C. parapsilosis.

Sample Types: Vaginal specimens collected in cobas® PCR Media (applicable for both clinician-collected and clinician-instructed self-collected specimens). Note: The processing volume is 400 μL, and if using the Dual Swab Sample Kit, only the woven swab is validated.

Reagent Stability (192 tests): Features an industry-leading 180-day open-kit stability. Our ready-to-load cassettes virtually eliminate reagent waste, empowering users to optimize resources while delivering vital testing.
