At Roche, we strive to deliver medical solutions that significantly improve people’s lives now, even as we develop innovations for the future. And our overall aim is to ensure that every person who needs our medicines is able to access, as well as benefit from them.

Though the Canadian health care system is built on the promise of comprehensiveness, universality, portability and accessibility, patients still experience significant gaps in their care. These include extended wait times to see specialists, limitations in the availability of physicians, restrictions on the use of diagnostics and difficulties in navigating through a complex system that impact overall outcomes.

As a leading, innovation-driven health care company, Roche Canada recognizes that we have an important role to play in addressing these gaps and barriers. Our patient assistance programs (PSPs) are just one way we are actioning our commitment. Roche Canada PSPs aim to provide solutions to those Canadians who have the greatest need and require the most assistance.  Our programs are built on five key pillars:

  • Reimbursement navigation: to help patients with private health coverage secure access to their medicines through their insurance providers;
  • Financial assistance: to help patients with the greatest financial need offset the cost of their medicines;
  • Infusion and injection support: to provide complete care to patients who secure their medicines via a Roche PSP and require the use of a private clinic for its administration;
  • Nursing support: to offer patients the opportunity to work with “in-network” nursing staff for their counseling needs; and
  • Access to free medicinal products: to help patients access medicines based on an affordability matrix, which factors in a patient’s ability to pay for a portion of their treatment.

Our overall goal is to ensure that we are playing a meaningful role in the lives of patients who need and depend on our medicines. In addition to providing comprehensive, end-to-end patient support programs, Roche is also working closely with key stakeholders within our healthcare system to offer solutions, as well as support that can further close the gaps and barriers that may impact patient care in Canada.
