Just go to our Patient Engagement home page, click on the “I’m interested” button and follow the directions.  You’ll be asked to fill in a form with your contact information as well as tell us a little about yourself.

Applications will be accepted until May 31st, 2021, 9:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. We are expecting a high level of interest, so please make sure you apply early if you’re interested!

We value your voice. If have been a patient or a caregiver, live in Canada, and are 18 years of age or older, you can apply.

Roche has always engaged with patients and caregivers and it’s a core feature of how we deliver impact to the patients and communities we serve. We recognize that innovation is taking place all around us but that there are many barriers to optimal patient care, and we welcome opportunities to work together toward the same goal - better outcomes for more patients faster.

For the purpose of our engagements, the term patient is inclusive of those who have personal experience with a chronic health issue. The term caregiver is inclusive of those whose experience with a chronic health issue has come through taking care of a patient or living with one, and may include family and friends.

Most of our engagement opportunities will be in therapeutic areas of interest to Roche which include the following: cancer (breast, lung, kidney, bladder, and blood cancers), hemophilia, idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, multiple sclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis, spinal muscular atrophy (SMA), ophthalmology, Angelman syndrome, and Alzheimer’s disease.

This will vary. Meetings or phone calls will typically be 1-2 hours in duration and are most likely to take place Monday-Friday during 11:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. If this is not feasible for participants, and given time zone considerations, they may take place in the evening or on the weekend should this meet the needs of the majority of the participants.

Not at this time. Due to ongoing COVID-19 restrictions, all meetings will be held virtually until the public health authority and Roche guidelines deem it is safe to meet in person.

By completing the application form, you are agreeing to Roche Canada collecting and storing your information. Your information will be kept on file for up to two years and, as patient engagement opportunities arise, we will contact you to see if you are interested in participating. Your information will not be used for any other purpose without your consent and you may ask to be removed from the list at any time.

Bilingualism in French and English is an asset, but all meetings and associated materials will be in English, so a strong command of the English language will be needed.

Yes. Subject to compliance with Roche policies and practices you will be monetarily compensated for the time you spend in meetings as well as for the time you spend preparing for meetings (when required). Should you need to be compensated in a different way, please reach out to us at

Information and insights that we gather from you may inform and be incorporated into our business decisions and strategies. You will not receive any additional benefits or payment if this happens.

Please note, this opportunity is now closed

No prior council experience is required. In addition to being a patient or caregiver, 18 years of age or older, and living in Canada, the following are of high importance in council members:

  • A strong understanding of the Canadian healthcare ecosystem and a high level of expertise in one of the following areas: policy, access, regulatory, patient advocacy, patient engagement, digital/virtual care and/or personalized healthcare

  • Strategic thinker with strong communication skills and the ability to question and challenge

  • Innovative with forward vision and outside of the box thinking - open to possibilities

  • Implementer with a passion for action and experimentation.

As a council member you will discuss a variety of topics and solutions related to the healthcare ecosystem, including but not limited to, clinical trials and evidence generation, health policy and access, personalized healthcare, and digital health  We want to embed your voice at the heart of what we do, and depending on your area of expertise, you may also be able to provide mentorship to various teams across the organization. In addition to the quarterly meetings, you will have the opportunity to partner on additional projects that align with your general area of expertise or your therapeutic area of lived experience. These opportunities are ad hoc and optional, and may range from a small commitment of 6-8 hours up to 40 hours if you’re participating in multiple larger projects.

We plan to have roughly 4-6 external patient/caregiver partners on the council and an equivalent number of Roche staff.

The council will form its mandate, vision and terms of reference at the first meeting, and external patient/caregiver members may participate for up to 2 years.

Yes! Being a member of the council will not prevent you from working on other Roche projects.

Being a council member at another company does not prevent you from being on the Roche council but we ask that you disclose this when you apply. We would then follow up for more information and should we feel there is a conflict of interest we will let you know early in the process. Before applying, we suggest that you also check whether the other company will allow you to participate on the Roche council.

This will vary and depend on the council preference. Meetings will typically be 2-3 hours in duration and are most likely to take place Monday-Friday during 11:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. When this is not feasible for participants, and given time zone considerations, they may take place in the evening or on the weekend should the council members agree that this best meets the needs of the majority.

Not at this time. Due to ongoing COVID-19 restrictions, all meetings will be held virtually until the public health authority and Roche guidelines deem it is safe to meet in person.
