Giving back to the communities where we live and work is a long-standing tradition at Roche Canada and one that mirrors our sustainability-driven approach to business. It’s part of our culture as a company, and over time we’ve built on our commitment to drive real and lasting change in our communities.
We approach the idea of giving back in the same way as we approach making medicines. We start by looking for the root cause of a problem and then exploring how we can contribute to a solution. Beyond charitable donations, we look at strategic partnerships and volunteerism as ways we can make a difference – because we know that we can make an impact by working together. We believe that our employees' skills, creativity and generosity can make a meaningful difference in the communities in which we work and live. In turn, volunteerism increases pride in what we do, helps us grow as an organization and connects us to one another.
With these goals in mind, we’re proud to announce our commitment to supporting the following organizations in 2019:
Darling Home for Kids
The Darling Home for Kids provides high quality respite and palliative care services for children who are medically fragile and technology dependent, many of whom suffer from progressive illness. The Darling Home for Kids believes that all children should be loved and valued, and should be given the opportunity to be challenged in an environment where they can thrive.
Habitat for Humanity GTA
Habitat for Humanity Canada is a nonprofit organization working toward a world where everyone has a decent and affordable place to call home. Affordable homeownership frees families and fosters the skills and confidence they need to invest in themselves, as well as their communities.
Let’s Talk Science
Let's Talk Science is a national charitable organization focused on education and outreach to support youth development. They create and deliver unique learning programs and services that engage children, youth and educators in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).
Riverwood Conservancy
Riverwood Conservancy provides programs and services to the community through nature and environmental education, stewardship of Riverwood, and gardening and horticulture. Working together with like-minded groups and individuals, they enable people of all cultures, ages, and abilities to respectfully connect with nature and learn about the importance of protecting, conserving and restoring natural spaces for the well-being of future generations.
We’re proud to support the work of community-based organizations that are finding ways to help those in need and make a lasting, positive impact. Through this support and the volunteer efforts of our employees, we believe we are addressing critical challenges in our local environment and creating a better future for Canadians.
